Eligibility

Age: 18 (may pre-register at 16)

ID Requirements

To Register: MI driver's license or state ID number, or last 4 of SSN. Without these, include a copy of a photo ID, utility bill, bank statement, or government document with name and address. For same-day/Election Day registration, proof of residency required in person. Voters without photo ID may sign an affidavit.

To Vote: Photo ID requested; voters without ID may sign an affidavit

Registration Methods

  • Online: Residents can submit a voter registration application electronically through the state's website, rather than by mail or in person.
  • Mail: Residents can register to vote by completing a paper registration form and submitting it by mail to the appropriate election office.
  • In Person: Residents can register to vote by visiting a designated government office, such as a county clerk's office or DMV, and completing a registration form on site.

9 days of early voting before election day at designated early voting sites.

Mail-In / Absentee Voting

No-excuse absentee voting available for all registered voters.

Felony Voting Rules

Rights restored upon release from incarceration. People on probation or parole may vote.
